Cumin

Cumin is a flowering plant which has dark and small fennel-like seeds. As a kind of spice, the ground cumin has a pleasing pungent, lingering aroma and warm flavor while it is usually used in salads and other dishes when a spicy flavor is desired. When cumin is cooked together with cinnamon, chili powder, ginger, garlic, and other seasonings, ground cumin makes an amazing flavor perfect for meats, such as chicken and beef.

Cumin can be purchased in supermarkets while high quality cumin is always available in Indian stores as well.

 
Purchasing tips:
When purchase cumin, high-quality cumin powder should be khaki in color and oily in texture, and remember that each time purchase in small quantities as it lose its flavor very easily.

 
Storage:
The whole cumin seeds can be kept for around 3 year.
