Sesame Oil

Sesame oil is an yellow colored, aromatic edible oil, made from toasted sesame seeds. It comes in two basic types, light and dark. Besides being usd for stir-frying (not good for deep-frying), it is normally added as a flavoring seasoning in the final stage of some Chinese dishes and salads.

Gingili oil, benne oil, teel oil.


Purchaing tips:
Do not trying subsitute untoasted sesame oil for toasted ones, though you can find untoasted ones easily in many supermarkets.


Storage:
Place in a cool, dark, and dry place, avoid light or heat, can keep for several months, however, it can be easily go rancid when kept opening. So it is best kept in the refrigerator.


Usage:
Sesame oil are not supposed to be employed during the cooking process, such as frying, baking, or boiling, because high temperatures may distory its therapeutic effects, but you can use it in a low-temperature saute.



Nutritional and Healthy Benefits:
Sesame oil usually used in holistic preparations, such as treating infections, and stimulating brain activity. In China, people use it for preparation of meals for woman after given birth. Sesame oil is also used to treat dizziness, blurred vision, headaches, it may help to lower cholesterol levels and prevent atherosclerosis as well. It may also have potential as a cancer fighter as it blocks the growth of malignant melanoma in human cells.
