Barbecued Beef Soup

Bring the love and magic of homemade barbecue beef soup into your home via your cooking with this simple and easy Chinese soup recipe.

Utensils:
Wok, bowl.

Serves 2

Ingredients:
10.5 oz. / 300 g beef, cut into thin strips
1/2-1 piece sheet jelly, shredded
1 hot red pepper, seeded, cut into small pieces
1 tbsp. barbecue sauce
5 tbsps. vegetable oil
1 tsp. salt, or to taste
1 tsp. sugar, or to taste
Seasoning A :
1 tbsp. light soy sauce, low sodium
1 tbsp. Chinese rice wine, or dry sherry
1 tbsp. cornstarch, mixed with 2 tbsps. water
Directions:
1. Soften sheet jelly by soaking in warm water for 20 minutes.
2. Meanwhile, gently combine beef strips with Seasoning A in a bowl, let them marinate for 30 minutes.
3. In a wok, heat 3 tbsps. vegetable oil until hot, stir fry beef until changes colour and is nearly cooked through, which will take about 1-2 minutes, then transfer them to a plate for later use.

4. In the same wok, preheat 2 tbsps. vegetable oil until hot, saute barbecue sauce over low heat until aromatic, about 30 seconds, then add beef and sheet jelly, pour into 1-2 cups of water, hot red pepper and proper quantity of salt and sugar, keep stirring over medium high heat until the sauce thickens.

5. When cooked, dish them out and serve hot.
