Tasty Tofu Recipe
This recipe is a great way to enjoy tofu. It is great served over pasta, or rice, and is a perfect recipe when you want big flavors on a small budget.

Utensils:
Wok, kitchen paper, serving plate.
Serves 2
Ingredients:
1 block, about 5 oz./ 150 g firm tofu
1/3 cup water
1 tbsp. white sugar
1 tbsp. light soy sauce
5 tbsps. vegetable oil for deep-frying
Directions:
1. Cut the tofu into rectangles, roughly 1/2-inch width, 1-inch long, then drain well according to the tips below.

2. Heat 5 tbsps. vegetable oil in a wok over medium heat until shimmering on the bottom, but not yet smoking, deep fry tofu cubes until golden brown.

3. Remove the tofu to another wok over medium heat, stir into the sugar, light soy sauce and 1/3 cup water, keep on a steady simmer.

4. When the liquid is reduced, remove to a plate and serve.

Tips:
How to drain tofu before using:
1. Lay a kitchen paper out on a big serving plate, arrange tofu cubes on it neatly, then cover another kitchen paper on them.
2. At last, put a book or any other heavy things on it, let sit for 20 minutes.
3. During this period, you may find that water leeks out of tofu, no worries, just drain it by tiltting the plate if needed.
