Description

Coquito is a rich and creamy Puerto Rican holiday drink made with coconut milk, rum, and warm spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. This tropical twist on traditional eggnog is easy to make, customizable, and perfect for holiday celebrations. Whether served chilled or at room temperature, Coquito will be a festive hit at any gathering!

Ingredients

  • 1 can (13.5 oz) full-fat coconut milk

  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk

  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (plus extra for garnish)

  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 1 cup white rum (adjust to taste)

  • ½ cup dark rum (optional, for a richer flavor)

  • Cinnamon sticks (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Combine the Liquids:
In a blender, combine coconut milk, evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Blend on medium speed until smooth and fully combined.

  • Add the Rum:
Pour in the white rum and dark rum (if using), and blend again to incorporate. Adjust the rum to your taste—more rum for a stronger kick or less for a milder drink.

  • Chill:
Pour the Coquito into a large bottle or pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2-4 hours. This helps the flavors meld together and ensures a cool, refreshing drink.

  • Serve:
Shake well before serving, especially if the coconut milk has separated. Pour into small glasses and garnish with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon or a cinnamon stick for a festive touch.

  • Enjoy:
Serve chilled and enjoy this creamy, sweet holiday treat

Notes

Variations: Make it vegan by using coconut condensed milk and coconut evaporated milk, and choose coconut rum for a dairy-free version.Flavor Twists: Add chocolate by mixing in cocoa powder or melted chocolate for a chocolaty version, or infuse the Coquito with extra cinnamon or spiced rum for added warmth.
