These quick and easy potato patties are made with simple ingredients and are perfect as a breakfast side, brunch dish, or snack. Whether pan-fried or baked, they deliver irresistible texture and flavor in every bite.

  • 3 cups frozen shredded hash browns (thawed and well-drained)

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour for GF option)

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  • Prepare potato mixture: In a large bowl, combine the hash browns, cheddar cheese, onion, eggs, flour, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly.

  • Form patties: Shape the mixture into 8 patties, about 3 inches in diameter and ½ inch thick.

  • Heat oil: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat until hot and shimmering.

  • Cook patties: Cook patties in batches for 3–4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
