  • 1 small onion, chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced

  • 1 ½ cups beef broth

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • ½ cup sour cream

  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour (or cornstarch for gluten-free)

  • Cooked egg noodles or rice, for serving

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, melt butter or heat oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; sauté until softened.

  • Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess fat if needed.

  • Stir in sliced mushrooms and cook until tender.

  • Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir well to coat.

  • Gradually add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring until the sauce thickens.

  • Remove from heat and stir in sour cream until creamy and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.

  • Serve stroganoff over cooked egg noodles or rice, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream to lighten the sauce.Add a splash of white wine when cooking mushrooms for extra depth.Toss in peas, spinach, or other vegetables to boost nutrition.Use ground turkey or chicken as a leaner alternative to beef.
