Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.

Gradually add the flour mixture alternating with milk, beginning and ending with flour. Mix until just combined.

Fold in chopped maraschino cherries and cherry juice if using.
