Description

Marshmallow Torrone is a delicious twist on the classic Italian nougat, combining chewy marshmallows, rich chocolate, and crunchy hazelnuts sandwiched between crisp wafer sheets. This no-bake treat is perfect for the holidays, special occasions, or as a homemade gift. With its easy preparation and delightful flavor, it’s sure to become a favorite in your dessert repertoire.

Ingredients

  • 400 g marshmallows

  • 250 g milk chocolate chips

  • 150 g semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 6 tablespoons butter (sliced into pieces)

  • 2.5 cups hazelnuts (toasted)

  • 1 tablespoon liqueur or vanilla extract (e.g., amaretto)

  • 2 wafer sheets (approximately 8″ x 12″)

Instructions

  • Toast the Hazelnuts:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the hazelnuts on a baking sheet and toast them for 10-15 minutes, or until fragrant. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool.

  • Melt the Ingredients:
In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the marshmallows and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the mixture is fully melted and smooth.

  • Add the Chocolate:
Stir in the milk and semi-sweet chocolate chips into the melted marshmallow mixture. Microwave again in 30-second intervals, stirring until the chocolate is fully melted and combined.

  • Incorporate Hazelnuts and Flavoring:
Add the toasted hazelnuts and your choice of liqueur or vanilla extract. Stir until everything is evenly distributed.

  • Assemble the Torrone:
Place one wafer sheet on a flat surface. Quickly spread the marshmallow-chocolate mixture over the wafer sheet, smoothing it into an even layer.

  • Top and Set:
Place the second wafer sheet on top of the mixture. Cover with parchment paper and weigh it down with something heavy, like a book. Let it sit for 30 minutes to set.

  • Cut and Serve:
Once set, remove the top wafer sheet and parchment paper. Cut the torrone into diamond or rectangular pieces. Serve and enjoy!
