Description

No-Oven Stovetop Bread is a quick and easy homemade bread recipe that requires no oven—just a skillet on your stovetop. This bread develops a crispy, golden crust and a soft, fluffy interior, making it perfect for sandwiches, dipping, or enjoying alongside your favorite meals. Ideal for when you want fresh bread without heating up your kitchen.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)

  • 1 tsp instant yeast

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil (plus extra for cooking)

Instructions

  • Make the Dough:
In a large bowl, mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add warm water and olive oil. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.

  • Knead the Dough:
Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Or use a stand mixer with a dough hook.

  • First Rise:
Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl. Cover and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour until doubled.

  • Shape and Rest:
Punch down dough, shape into a round loaf or flat disc. Let rest 15 minutes.

  • Cook on Stovetop:
Heat a heavy skillet over medium-low heat and lightly oil. Place dough in pan, cover, and cook 8-10 minutes until golden. Flip, cover, and cook another 8-10 minutes until cooked through.

  • Cool and Serve:
Remove bread, cool slightly, then slice and enjoy.
