Description

Oven-Baked Cabbage Burgers are a healthy, low-carb alternative to classic burgers, combining ground meat with shredded cabbage and flavorful seasonings. Baked to juicy perfection, these burgers are packed with veggies and perfect for a nutritious, family-friendly meal with minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (or ground turkey/chicken)

  • 2 cups shredded green cabbage

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 large egg

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (or almond flour for low-carb)

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)

  • 4 burger buns or lettuce wraps

  • Toppings: cheese slices, lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, mustard

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease.

  • Prepare Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground meat, shredded cabbage, onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Mix until just combined.

  • Form Patties: Shape the mixture into 4 equal patties and place on the prepared baking sheet.

  • Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until patties are cooked through and browned.

  • Add Cheese (Optional): Place cheese slices on patties during the last 3 minutes of baking to melt.

  • Assemble Burgers: Serve patties on buns or lettuce wraps with your favorite toppings.

Notes

For a crispier exterior, pan-fry or grill the patties instead of baking.Use egg and breadcrumbs (or almond flour) to help patties hold together.Substitute green cabbage with Napa or Savoy cabbage if preferred.Add extra veggies like grated carrot or zucchini for more nutrition.Customize herbs and spices such as thyme, oregano, or cumin.
