Description

Pan Fried Cinnamon Bananas are a quick and easy dessert or snack that combines the natural sweetness of ripe bananas with a caramelized cinnamon sugar coating. This warm, spiced treat is ready in just minutes and can be enjoyed on its own or as a topping for pancakes, ice cream, or yogurt. A healthy-ish, simple indulgence perfect for any time of day!

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas, peeled and sliced

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (or granulated sugar)

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • Pinch of salt

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, for extra flavor)

  • A squeeze of fresh lemon juice (optional, to prevent browning)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Bananas:

    • Peel the bananas and slice them into 1/2-inch thick rounds or diagonal slices, depending on your preference. You can also slice them lengthwise for larger pieces.

  • Make the Cinnamon Sugar:

    • In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.

  • Pan Fry the Bananas:

    • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the butter and allow it to melt. Once the butter has melted and is slightly bubbling, add the banana slices in a single layer. Let them cook for about 2-3 minutes on one side until they start to turn golden.

  • Flip and Add Sugar:

    • Flip the banana slices gently and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over them. Let the bananas cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the sugar to caramelize and the bananas to soften.

  • Optional Enhancements:

    • Add a splash of vanilla extract for extra flavor or squeeze a little lemon juice over the bananas to balance the sweetness.

  • Serve:

    • Once the bananas are caramelized and golden brown on both sides, remove them from the skillet. Serve immediately as a topping for ice cream, pancakes, waffles, or enjoy on their own!
