Description

Peppermint Chocolate Mousse is a decadent and airy dessert that perfectly balances rich, dark chocolate with the refreshing zing of peppermint. This no-bake, easy-to-make treat is perfect for the holidays or any special occasion, offering a creamy texture and a festive twist. With just a few ingredients, it’s both elegant and simple to prepare!

Ingredients

  • 8 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract (or to taste)

  • Whipped cream (for topping)

  • Crushed peppermint candies (for garnish)

  • Chocolate shavings or curls (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Melt the Chocolate:

    • In a microwave-safe bowl or using a double boiler, melt the chopped chocolate until smooth and glossy. If using the microwave, heat in 20-30 second intervals, stirring in between. Let the melted chocolate cool to room temperature.

  • Whip the Cream:

    • In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar using an electric mixer on medium-high speed until soft peaks form, about 2-3 minutes.

  • Flavor the Cream:

    • Once the cream is whipped, gently fold in the vanilla extract and peppermint extract. Taste and adjust the peppermint extract to your liking.

  • Combine the Chocolate and Whipped Cream:

    • Once the melted chocolate has cooled, fold it into the whipped cream mixture until fully combined. Be gentle while folding to keep the mousse light and airy.

  • Chill the Mousse:

    • Spoon the mousse into individual serving dishes or glasses. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until set and chilled.

  • Serve:

    • Before serving, top each mousse with a dollop of whipped cream, a sprinkle of crushed peppermint candies, and chocolate shavings or curls, if desired.
