Description

Salisbury Steak Meatballs combine the hearty flavors of classic Salisbury steak with the convenience of juicy beef meatballs simmered in a rich mushroom and onion gravy. This comforting dish is perfect for family dinners, meal prep, and pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped (divided)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced

  • 2 cups beef broth

  • 2 tablespoons butter or oil

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for thickening)

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Make meatballs: In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, half the chopped onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into meatballs.

  • Cook meatballs: Heat butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown meatballs on all sides, then remove and set aside.

  • Prepare gravy: In the same skillet, sauté remaining onions and mushrooms until softened. Sprinkle flour over vegetables and cook for 1-2 minutes.

  • Add broth: Gradually stir in beef broth, scraping up browned bits from the pan. Simmer until gravy thickens.

  • Simmer meatballs: Return meatballs to skillet and cook in gravy for 10-15 minutes until fully cooked.

  • Garnish and serve: Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve over mashed potatoes or preferred sides.
